AkaTex seminar with focus on sustainability

As a partner of the Academy for Textile Finishing, PromoTex Expo supports continuing education in our industry. That’s what the autumn programme will offer.

Autumn programme with a focus on sustainability

Second Academy Week at New Wave Germany

With three events on sustainability in the textile supply chain, the Academy for Textile Finishing will shift the focus this autumn. On 8 November 2019, the redesigned workshop “Shaping the Future with Ecodesign” will be held for the first time in Düsseldorf. Guided by sustainability pioneer Bianca Seidel, participants will learn how to use the ecodesign concept to develop innovative solutions for future-proof business models. Due to high demand, the screen-printing seminar “Sustainability: Certified Textile Printing” was once again added to the programme. On 10 October 2019, screen-printing expert Thomas Mosner will come to the Siebdruck Service Welle print shop in Oberkirch to illuminate possible paths towards sustainable textile production in accordance with the GOTS standard. The seminar is sponsored by the screen-printing ink manufacturers EPTA INKS and the textile producers Mantis World. The foundational seminar “Cotton” on 20 November 2019 will take a closer look at sustainable cotton production. The event is hosted jointly by the Bremen Cotton Exchange and the Fibre Institute Bremen.

The Academy for Textile Finishing will be visiting New Wave’s new textile logistics centre in Geiselwind, hosting its second Academy Week there from 24 to 27 September 2019. Four seminars will be offered on four consecutive days in cooperation with the manufacturer of corporate fashion, promotional textiles, sportswear and workwear. Kicking off things on 24 September 2019 will be the seminar “A Way Through the Variety of Embroidery Materials” with the speaker and master embroiderer Dennis Ermert from embcon. Up next on day two of the Academy will be the popular seminar “Textile Merchandise Knowledge” with textile engineer and clothing technician Birgit Jussen. To satisfy the great demand, the seminar “Can I Do That” will take place for the third time already on 26 September 2019. Speaker Thomas Seifert, a lawyer specialising in intellectual property law will shed light on the things textile finishers and textile-processing companies must consider when it comes to brands, designs and copyright. A seminar on merchandise management for textile finishers, signmakers and promotional products distributors with speaker Eduard A. Schreiber will conclude Academy Week.

Two additional seminars in Düsseldorf and Wolfsburg complete the extensive programme. With the seminar “Safe Products, Satisfied Customers” on 18 September 2019, the designer and expert for product safety Lutz Gathmann, in cooperation with the PSI Network Düsseldorf, will demonstrate that product safety doesn’t have to be a sword of Damocles. The Wolfsburg-based textile print shop Mr.Tex will open its doors for the seminar “Direct Digital Printing on T-Shirts”. On 18 November 2019, two speakers – Jan Worm, the owner of Mr.Tex, and Max Heedemann, an applications-engineering consultant at IVM SignTEX – will explain the theory and practice of the DTG process.

All events will be hosted in cooperation with the Signforum24 and the trade shows PromoTex Expo, viscom and PSI. The new programme brochure is available for download in PDF format on the www.aka-tex.de website; seminars can be booked online.
